Two men shaking hands in a field

Collaborating to shape agriculture's future

Collaboration is key to our success and has been the buzz word of this month's work at AgriFutures Australia. The more industries, sectors and RDCs work together, the more effective innovation and outcomes will be.

On this note, we kicked off the month with
Agrihack, an exciting event in Wagga Wagga NSW where teams were given just 48 hours to create solutions to key challenges faced in our agricultural sector. The winning team, ‘Chickon’ came up with an innovative solution to accurately measure the live weight in meat chickens.

Just recently, we announced a new scholarship which we hope will uncover future chicken meat industry leaders. The
Gary Sansom Postgraduate Scholarship is named in honour of Gary Sansom, former AgriFutures™ Chicken Meat Advisory Panel Chair and Australian Chicken Meat Federation President.

In other research news, our Thoroughbred Horses Advisory Panel have gathered to review 42 preliminary research proposals received during our open call. The submissions covered important topics including: improving the prevention and treatment of priority diseases and improving breeding outcomes.

Finally, applications for the
AgriFutures™ Ignite Advisory Panel are closing tomorrow. We're looking for passionate rural leaders who want to work with like-minded people to create impact, innovate and enhance the prosperity of rural and regional Australia.
